Focus on the Import Expo
On November 10th, the last day of the 6th China International Import and Export Fair, the reporter arrived at the Vale booth located in the service trade zone of Hall 8.2. This year marks the 50th anniversary of Vale's first shipment of iron ore from Brazil to China. Vale is exhibiting around the theme of "50 years of cooperation with China, sustainable and win-win future".
The first shipment of iron ore exported by Vale to China was delivered in 1973. China has been our largest market since 2006 and has been a sales destination for over 50% of our iron ore products since 2014. As of now, we have supplied more than 3 billion tons of high-quality iron ore products to China. We are very proud and excited to celebrate this important milestone with the visitors to the CIIE The person in charge of Vale stated.
In addition to supplying high-quality iron ore to China, in recent years, Vale has also developed close cooperation with China in addressing climate change.
Vale is famous for its high-quality iron ore. According to a reporter from Futures Daily, at this year's CIIE, Vale once again showcased three high-quality iron ore powder products: IOCJ, BRBF, and PFC1. These products have high iron content and low impurity content, which can increase the productivity of the steel production process, reduce slag, and lower emissions.
Vale also showcased two high-quality agglomerate products, iron ore pellets and iron ore briquettes, which have significant carbon reduction effects in the steel production process. Among them, iron ore briquetting uses an adhesive technology solution, which is made of high-quality iron ore by pressing at low temperatures and has high mechanical strength. Due to its ability to reduce steel companies' dependence on sintering processes, iron ore briquetting has the potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions generated in steel production by up to 10%, thereby supporting companies in addressing operational decarbonization challenges.
The first iron ore briquetting plant located in the Tubarang comprehensive operating area in Brazil has started load testing and is expected to start operation before the end of this year. The second briquetting plant is expected to start operation early next year. The total annual production capacity of the two factories' briquetting products will reach 6 million tons, "said the person in charge.
This year, Vale also promoted the "Giant Hub" and Vale Venture Capital Fund at the CIIE for the first time. It is understood that the mega hub is an industrial complex aimed at producing hot pressed iron blocks (HBI) using a direct reduction route. Compared with the long process route of blast furnace converter, using natural gas to produce HBI can significantly reduce carbon emissions in the steel production chain. For example, using green hydrogen instead of natural gas may even achieve zero carbon emissions. In the giant hub, Vale will construct and operate a beneficiation and briquetting plant to ensure the supply of high-grade agglomerate products.
