On July 26th, sources familiar with the matter revealed that Meta will face its first antitrust fine from the European Union in the coming weeks for bundling its classified advertising service Marketplace with the Facebook social network. The European Commission accuses Meta of bundling the two to give Facebook Marketplace an unfair advantage. Meta may face fines of up to $13.4 billion, equivalent to 10% of its global revenue in 2023, but EU sanctions are typically much lower than this upper limit. (Reuters)
