According to Reuters on January 17 local time, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken's plane suffered a "serious failure", so he stayed briefly in Davos, Switzerland.
According to the members of Antony Blinken's accompanying news team, Antony Blinken's plane had an oxygen leak related fault, and he would take another plane back to Washington. It is reported that the aircraft involved in the accident was a Boeing 737.
Boeing aircraft have been in constant turmoil recently. On January 5th local time, a Boeing 737 MAX 9 passenger plane of Alaska Airlines in the United States experienced an accident in the air. A door stopper on the side of the cabin fell off, and the plane immediately made an emergency landing. Afterwards, all aircraft of the same model were grounded and awaiting safety inspections by the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States.
On January 15th local time, according to the Associated Press, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States stated that a Boeing 777 aircraft owned by All Nippon Airways of Japan collided with a Boeing 717 aircraft owned by Delta Airlines of the United States during takeoff taxiing at O'Hare International Airport in Chicago on the evening of the 14th. There were no reports of casualties in the accident, and the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States will investigate the accident.
The report states that it is currently unclear whether the accident is related to manufacturing defects in Boeing aircraft. Previously, American aircraft manufacturer Boeing was grounded and subjected to strict scrutiny for some aircraft models due to a series of accidents.
According to Reuters, on January 16th local time, Boeing appointed retired Navy Admiral Kirkland Donald as an independent consultant to lead a comprehensive quality review of Boeing's commercial aircraft quality management system.
Boeing stated that Donald and an external team of experts will provide advice to Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun and the Boeing Board Aerospace Safety Committee, and the appointment will take effect immediately.
On January 17th local time, Alaska Airlines issued a statement stating that its maintenance and engineering personnel had completed a preliminary inspection of its Boeing 737 MAX 9 fleet at the request of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and would provide the data to Boeing and FAA for further analysis.
In addition, Alaska Airlines has announced that it will continue to cancel all flights of Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft until January 19th. In addition, the airline is currently waiting for instructions on the next steps, including final inspection orders, in order to begin the relevant procedures for restoring aircraft services.
On the day of the news of comprehensive review, Boeing's stock price plummeted by nearly 8%. On the 17th, Boeing's stock price rebounded and closed up 1.27%.
