In less than two days since the start of the 7th CIIE, Dingdong Maicai's "Buyer Team" has achieved great success. The company has successively reached cooperation intentions with multiple enterprises in Australia, New Zealand, and Chile, planning to purchase beef, fruits, wine, milk, etc. worth over 100 million yuan. It is reported that Dingdong Maicai dispatched a luxury "buyer team" consisting of hundreds of product developers at this year's CIIE to explore imported cuisine with high prices.
The Australian project team has signed consecutive large orders
Based on the rapid growth of overseas product sales on the platform and multidimensional investigation of the origin, Dingdong Maicai established an Australian project team in August this year and launched a new "Australia Direct" channel on the APP. Recently, taking advantage of the 7th CIIE, the Dingdong Maicai Australia project team has signed multiple large orders in succession.
On November 4th, Dingdong Maicai signed a memorandum of cooperation with Cargill Materials (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Tiancuiting Health Food Co., Ltd. The three parties have agreed that Dingdong Maicai and Tiancuiting plan to purchase Australian beef products from Cargill and Teys in 2025.
On the morning of the second day of the CIIE, Dingdong Maicai also signed a letter of intent for cooperation with New Zealand Silver Fern Farm and Shanghai Tiancuiting at the exhibition hall, reaching further consensus on promoting more cooperation and bringing high-quality meat from New Zealand into China in the future. In the afternoon, Dingdong Maicai signed letters of intent for cooperation with four companies from Australia, namely Accolade Wines, Ashton Valley, Riversdale Fine Wines, and Devondale, covering fruit juice, grape wine, milk, and more. This is also Dingdong Maicai's first time "ordering" dairy drinks from abroad at the CIIE.
In the view of Hu Jiatang, Senior Director of Dingdong Maicai and Project Manager of Australia, the CIIE, which gathers many global enterprises, is a good opportunity for buyers to communicate face-to-face with importers, producers, and other parties, greatly improving the efficiency of product development. She said, "With the help of the CIIE as a bridge, we have also established connections with many excellent Australian companies. In the future, we not only want to introduce local national cuisine such as Australian beef, Chardonnay wine, and Deyun milk powder to users, but also hope to achieve direct procurement of Australian good products such as Ashton Valley sparkling juice that are not yet well-known to domestic consumers
Strengthen the global supply chain
Dingdong Maicai has participated in the CIIE for the 7th time this year. With the help of previous CIIE events, Dingdong has successfully established long-term and stable cooperative relationships with foreign companies such as Chilean cherry enterprise Garces Fruit and New Zealand Silver Fern Farm. At this year's CIIE, Dingdong Maicai's "Buyer Team" also further communicated and explored new possibilities for future cooperation with the above-mentioned enterprises.
Garces Fruit has become an old friend of Dingdong grocery shopping. As the largest exporter of cherries in Chile, Dingdong Maicai became acquainted with them at the second CIIE and successfully completed an order for nearly 20 tons of cherries through a third-party company, establishing a long-term cooperative relationship between the two parties. At this year's CIIE, representatives of Garces Fruit not only brought their company's signature cherries, but also recommended other fruit categories from their own orchard to the Dingdong "buyer group".
On November 6th, Xu Zhijian, Chief Merchandise Officer (CMO) of Dingdong Maicai, signed a letter of intent with Garces Fruit on behalf of the company, planning to purchase Chilean cherries, plums, peaches, and plums from Garces Fruit during the 2024-2025 season. Unlike before, this cooperation will be achieved through Dingdong Maicai's self built global direct procurement supply chain.
Xu Zhijian stated that the 7 years since the CIIE were also 7 years of rapid development for Dingdong Maicai. At the CIIE, the product development team of Dingdong Maicai not only expanded their global perspective, but also discovered numerous excellent overseas products. Meanwhile, the company's global direct procurement supply chain has gradually been established and improved over the past 7 years. From Malaysia's Cat Mountain King Durian, to Thailand's Coconut Green, Peru's Avocado, Philippine Bananas, and now Chilean fruits, Dingdong Maicai's global direct harvesting capability is providing users with more and more high-quality and cost-effective world cuisine.
It is reported that based on the signing of contracts at the China International Import Expo, Dingdong Maicai plans to gradually introduce imported cherries from multiple production areas such as Chile, Australia, and New Zealand through direct procurement supply chains in the 2024-2025 season. The overall sales revenue is expected to increase by nearly 60% year-on-year.
