Xinhua Finance Shijiazhuang, October 26th (Reporter Liu Taoxiong) From the 24th to the 26th, the 2024 China International Digital Economy Expo was held in Zhengding, Shijiazhuang. Tesla, as an exhibitor, brought products such as Cyber off-road vehicles, humanoid robot models, Model Y, and Model 3. Xinhua Finance: In October of this year, Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory produced its 3 millionth complete vehicle. Can you introduce the production and sales situation of Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory so far this year?
Tao Lin: Yes, the 3 millionth complete vehicle of the Shanghai Gigafactory has officially rolled off the production line, marking another new milestone for Chinese made Tesla. In the first three quarters of 2024, Tesla has delivered approximately 1.3 million vehicles, with nearly 7 million global car owners. According to data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, the Shanghai Gigafactory delivered 675000 vehicles in the first three quarters of this year, accounting for more than half of Tesla's global deliveries in the first three quarters. The automation rate of the Shanghai Gigafactory has reached over 95%, and a car can be produced in just over 30 seconds. It has become the "C-position" of Tesla's global export center and Tesla's "production capacity responsibility".
In addition, the localization rate of components in Shanghai's super factory has exceeded 95%, which means that the supply chain of Chinese manufacturing can fully support world-class manufacturing. It also means that Tesla is determined to deeply cultivate China, truly placing the industrial chain, supply chain, and research and development in China, hoping to develop together with this industry.
Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory has also become an important member of China's manufacturing industry going global. Of the 3 million vehicles produced at the Shanghai Gigafactory, one-third have already been exported to Europe, Asia Pacific and other regions, gaining high recognition in overseas markets. The Model 3 and Model Y sold in the Australian market are both from the Shanghai Gigafactory.
Xinhua Finance: Recently, you mentioned on social media that 'compliance is the bottom line of enterprise operation, and the intelligence of compliance is the intelligence of sustainable development'. How do you understand it?
Tao Lin: In the automotive industry, data security has always been a highly concerned topic. With the continuous development of intelligent connected vehicles, the amount of data involved in onboard systems is also rapidly increasing, making it particularly important to protect user privacy and data security. The fundamental basis for the sustainable development of the intelligent connected vehicle industry is for various car companies to fulfill their commitment to protecting user data through practical actions and provide users with a more reassuring travel experience. As a world-class company, Tesla must strictly comply with local requirements for information security, user privacy, and other aspects in any country. We also have the technical capability to meet these requirements.
Xinhua Finance: What new progress has Tesla made in promoting FSD fully autonomous driving technology?
Tao Lin: After Tesla launched the FSD fully autonomous driving capability (driver supervision version) V12 version earlier this year, Tesla electric vehicles can respond flexibly and accurately to quite complex road conditions. In the third quarter, Tesla released the V12.5 version, which increased the data and training volume by 5 times, further improving the safety and comfort of FSD. At present, the FSD fully autonomous driving capability (regulatory version) has accumulated over 3.2 billion kilometers of mileage, of which 50% comes from the V12.5 version.
At present, Tesla's Texas Gigafactory has deployed 29000 Nvidia H100 clusters and is expected to reach a capacity of 50000 H100 by the end of this month, which will help Tesla further consolidate its advantages in the field of autonomous driving. It can be said that the full autonomous driving capability of FSD can be pushed to all models in the future.
