Recently, the "People Pet Together - China's First Pet Festival" hosted by JD Supermarket and co organized by its fund was held in Beijing.
A total of 11 awards were presented at this grand ceremony. Patton, a three legged police dog with congenital disabilities, Shaguo, a guide dog working with blind doctors, and Big Wolf, a healing dog that helps children with autism, were selected as the first annual pets in China.
In addition, Chen Yunlian, an elderly person who has adopted over 5000 stray animals, Zhou Hewei, who has created a "cat village" to take care of nearly 300 cats, Jiang Xingmei, who has spent over a million yuan on treating stray cats in the past 15 years, Zhang Zheng, a pet doctor who has treated more than 50000 cats and dogs, Zhang Tianhang, a pet photographer who has taken millions of animal photos, and Qiao Shijun, a JD salesperson who has led the launch of a 15 day no love and return service for pets, have all become the first annual beloved pets in China.
The organizing committee of the ceremony collected and screened the stories of animals, pet owners, and industry practitioners from across the country in the past 5 years. Based on the preliminary excavation of 80 individuals and animals, the selection was conducted based on four dimensions: experience performance, public value, social reputation, and industry influence. Finally, 8 Chinese annual pet figures and 3 Chinese annual pets were voted out.
The person in charge of JD Supermarket's pet business stated that this event is not only aimed at recognizing and commemorating relevant personnel and animals, or sharing touching stories, but also aimed at arousing public reflection on the relationship between humans and pets, thereby promoting the harmonious development of the relationship.
Since its establishment in 2010, JD Supermarket's pet business has actively participated in public welfare undertakings and has established multiple public welfare plans involving food, housing, medical care, raising, and companionship, working together with the whole society to safeguard the healthy growth of small animals. In June 2021, JD Supermarket's pet business joined the order public welfare, and as of now, more than 6.81 million people have participated in donations.
It is reported that JD Supermarket's pet business currently has a "raw material transparency" project for pet food, and multiple services such as free refunds for pets who do not like to eat, aimed at caring for pet health and reducing the economic burden for pet owners.
JD Supermarket's pet business also stated that in the future, it will deepen pet public welfare actions and expand public welfare areas, "so that every pet in need can receive timely assistance."
