According to the Federal Register on April 3rd, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will adopt new airworthiness directives (AD) for certain Boeing 757-200, -200CB, and -300 series aircraft. According to reports, common cracks have appeared at the center hole of the three-way clamp between the lower hinge ribs of the upper fastener row on the belly plate of the aircraft body station (STA) 1640 frame. This AD requires maintenance record inspection of the existing repairs of STA 1640, repeated inspection of cracking in the frame web, and taking appropriate conditional actions. The FAA has released this AD to address the unsafe conditions of these products.
