Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is urging countries to actively invest in artificial intelligence (AI). On Wednesday (February 7th), he stated in India that India has an unprecedented opportunity to use this technology to drive economic growth.
As an Indian, Nadella met with numerous industry leaders in his birthplace of India. He said in his speech, "Artificial intelligence is spreading widely. In the computer age, I have never seen any technology spreading so fast."
In recent years, Microsoft has been driving its artificial intelligence applications and putting the technology at the forefront of commercialization through its software products. As is well known, Microsoft has invested over $10 billion in artificial intelligence startup OpenAI and collaborated with it to develop new products and services.
And India is also trying to become a key battlefield for artificial intelligence competition. In a situation where artificial intelligence talent is in short supply, the country has over 5 million programmers, making it one of the largest artificial intelligence talent reserves for large enterprises and startups worldwide.
AI skills training
According to Nadella's idea, Microsoft will help train 2 million people in India to master artificial intelligence skills, with a focus on training citizens in second - and third tier cities as well as rural areas, and promoting inclusive socio-economic progress.
He pointed out that "artificial intelligence, a new skill, will have an impact on Gross Domestic Product (GDP)", and countries adopting this technology will have the opportunity to promote their professional knowledge and contribute to economic growth. The global spread of artificial intelligence is also expected to achieve "equal distribution of economic growth".
Nadella also added that India and the United States need to collaborate on artificial intelligence norms and regulatory regulations, "I hope to reach a consensus, which in a sense does help spread this technology."
There are various investment opportunities in various fields related to artificial intelligence, including quantum computing, climate change, and scientific research. He said, "Artificial intelligence models are like contract factories in the world."
Nadella took over Microsoft in February 2014. He has led Microsoft to become the world's most valuable company in the past 10 years, with its stock price rising by 1000%.
Microsoft has previously made significant investments in India, employing over 23000 employees in technology hub cities such as Bangalore and Hyderabad. Last year, the company also promised to train 100000 developers to use the latest artificial intelligence tools and technologies.
