Xinhua Finance and Economics Shanghai, January 3 (Reporter Hu Jiefei) Ctrip Group and the Hong Kong Airport Authority have recently reached a strategic cooperation agreement. The two sides will further carry out innovative projects to provide more convenient and efficient travel experiences for cross-border travelers, and continue to promote the development of the cross-border tourism market.
According to recent data from the Hong Kong Airport Authority, the passenger volume at Hong Kong International Airport has returned to 80% of pre 2019 levels and is expected to fully recover to pre 2019 levels by the end of 2024. Ctrip data also shows that since the comprehensive customs clearance between mainland China and Hong Kong and Macao in February 2023, Hong Kong has maintained a leading position in search popularity and order volume among cross-border destinations. During the recent New Year holiday, Hong Kong's orders have also remained the top among overseas destinations.
Based on the good recovery momentum, Ctrip and the Hong Kong Airport Authority plan to fully leverage their respective resources, technology, and brand influence in their respective fields, jointly explore innovative travel solutions, and enhance the experience of passengers at airports and destinations. To jointly develop intelligent technologies, including smart airport construction, big data empowerment, and cross-border multimodal transportation, to provide users with more personalized and customized services.
In addition, Ctrip will also cooperate with the Hong Kong Airport Authority to jointly promote the recovery and development of destination tourism industry. Both parties will cooperate to carry out market promotion activities, including jointly hosting large-scale air ticket shopping festivals, promoting tourist destinations and attractions, etc. Through joint efforts, we will further enhance the visibility and attractiveness of Hong Kong as a tourist destination.
According to Tan Yudong, CEO of Ctrip's Air Ticketing Division, as a leading global one-stop travel service provider, Ctrip's cooperation with the Hong Kong Airport Authority will further strengthen their competitiveness in the tourism industry. Ctrip is full of confidence in this cooperation and looks forward to providing more convenient and efficient travel services for travelers through joint innovation, promoting the sustainable development of the tourism industry.
