On December 15th, Interface News learned from internal employees of Ideal Automobile that Ideal Automobile has recently completed the company wide job level system reform. The employee stated that the current level system reform has little impact on employees. After the increase in job ranks, it seems that there is more room for promotion, but the climbing time may also be longer, and the salary increase at each level is also lower than before.
According to a previous report by the technology media New Intelligent Driving, the reform of the Ideal Automobile job rank system has been adjusted from two job rank sequences of technology (P sequence) and management (M sequence) to six categories of work, including product, research and development, and supply, based on the professional division of employees. The range of employee job levels has also been expanded, from level 8 to level 30.

The new car making forces represented by Ideal Automobile mostly inherit the genes of internet companies, and their internal job ranking system is also in line with the internet companies. The MP rank system previously adopted by Ideal Automobile originated from the Career Map methodology, which first classifies positions based on the similarity of job attributes, and then divides each channel into levels according to the job requirements for job competency.
This organizational system can help employees clarify their positioning and development direction within the organization in the early stages, and also facilitate effective allocation of human resources within the organization. However, as time goes by, the number of employees increases and the difficulty of promotion increases. The MP organizational system can easily lead to the accumulation of low-level employees, making it difficult to play a motivating role, and also not conducive to talent flow and innovation ability improvement.
Alibaba, the most well-known company that adopts the MP rank system, also decided to cancel the P sequence in July this year. Its subsidiary, Taotian Group, will no longer have promotion and demotion in the rank system, and will determine salaries and bonuses based on business scale and team size.
On the other hand, the adjustment of the job rank system of Ideal Automobile this time is to better adapt to the matrix organizational structure completed at the end of last year. Employees from different groups and departments are placed in a unified job level system, which helps with unified management and helps employees have a clearer understanding of their internal positioning and make corresponding career plans.
In December 2022, with the addition of new products, Ideal Automobile officially announced the adjustment of its organizational structure from a vertical organizational structure to a matrix organizational structure. On the basis of the original two horizontal entity departments "Strategy Department" and "Product Department", five new entity departments have been added, including Business Department, Supply Department, Process Department, Organization Department, and Finance Department, to support the management model of Ideal Automobile, upgrading from a vertical functional organization to a matrix organization.
In April this year, Ideal Automobile added two more departments, one being the CFO Office, with CFO Li Tie responsible for process, organization, and financial transformation work; The other is the "Sales and Service Group", led by former Huawei executive Zou Liangjun, who mainly manages sales, delivery, after-sales, charging network, and reports to Li Xiang.
By September, the reform of the Ideal Automobile organization had entered a new stage. Ideal Automobile has established a production capacity delivery team for each manufacturing factory (including Changzhou factory, Beijing factory, and range extender factory), covering research and development, manufacturing, supply, procurement, delivery, and other links.
The organizational restructuring of Ideal Automobile is not an overnight move, Li Xiang said, and this upgrade will not see a more complete result until at least 2025.
