It is reported that recently, NetEase Games has launched a strict internal investigation into corruption, involving multiple executives in the marketing department. Xiang, the general manager of NetEase Games' marketing department, and others have been taken away for investigation. It is rumored that the amount involved in this case is as high as hundreds of millions of yuan.
The incident is still in its early stages, and it will take some time for the results to come out, "the reporter learned from within NetEase." The marketing department is very large, with multiple departments including the channel center and marketing department. It is understood that most of the executives who were taken away this time came from the marketing department. In the internal industry communication group, it is reported that the investigation incident involves an amount of over 100 million yuan.
According to public information, Xiang graduated from Fudan University with a bachelor's degree in 2008 and joined NetEase in 2013. He was responsible for the marketing of mobile games such as "Wilderness Action Plus", "Minecraft", and "Battle! Peaceful Capital". According to online rumors, executives Wu and Zhang both posted on their gaming product related moments after the incident, implying their own "safety".
According to another NetEase employee, in recent years, NetEase has been cracking down on corruption internally, especially conducting multiple investigations into cases such as "taking advantage of their position to accept bribes from suppliers", usually in conjunction with external suppliers. Previously, the company would also conduct group wide briefings on typical cases.
On November 8th, NetEase's public relations department responded that NetEase's anti-corruption efforts have never stopped. At the same time, they mentioned that due to the ongoing investigation of the case, specific information cannot be disclosed, and NetEase will report it at an appropriate time. The money laundering and other rumors circulating online are purely rumors. NetEase has arranged to report this to the police and called for "no rumors, no belief in rumors, no rumors".
In recent years, Internet technology enterprises have increased their internal anti-corruption efforts in recent years, with particular emphasis on combating commercial bribery and job occupation. A number of Internet giants issued anti fraud announcements and "zero tolerance" for any corruption.
Two days ago, ByteDance internally released the fourth Corporate Discipline and Professional Ethics Committee Notice within the year. According to the report, 103 people (including outsourcing and interns) were dismissed for illegal and irregular behavior, of which 11 people were investigated by the public security organs for suspected criminal offenses.
Recently, the resignation of Zhang Yijia, General Manager of Tencent Interactive Entertainment Tianmei L1 Studio Esports Development Center, has attracted attention in the industry. It is understood that this resignation is closely related to supplier corruption issues. This incident once again exposed the issue of corruption in large factories to the public eye.
Tencent discovered and investigated more than 70 cases of violating the "Tencent High Voltage Line" throughout 2023, of which more than 120 people were dismissed for violating the "Tencent High Voltage Line", and nearly 20 people were transferred to public security organs for suspected crimes.
