On November 6th, it was reported that at the 7th China International Import Expo (referred to as "CIIE"), Dingdong Maicai's "buyer team" achieved great success. The company has successively reached cooperation intentions with multiple enterprises in Australia, New Zealand, and Chile, planning to purchase beef, fruits, wine, milk, etc. worth over 100 million yuan. It is reported that Dingdong Maicai dispatched a luxury "buyer team" consisting of hundreds of product developers at this year's CIIE to explore imported cuisine with high prices.
According to the reporter's understanding, based on the rapid growth of overseas product sales on the platform and multidimensional investigation of the origin, Dingdong Maicai established an Australian project team in August this year and launched a new "Australia Direct" channel on the app. Taking advantage of the opportunity of the 7th CIIE, the Dingdong Maicai Australia project team has also signed multiple large orders one after another.
On November 6th, Dingdong Maicai signed a letter of intent to cooperate with Silver Fern Farm in New Zealand, Tiancuiting in Shanghai, as well as Accolade Wines, Ashton Valley, Riversdale Fine Wines, Devondale and other companies from Australia. The product categories cover fruit juice, wine, milk, etc. This is also the first time Dingdong Maicai has "ordered" dairy and wine drinks from abroad at the China International Import Expo.
In the view of Hu Jiatang, Senior Director of Dingdong Maicai and Project Manager of Australia, the CIIE, which gathers a large number of global enterprises, is a good opportunity for buyers to have face-to-face communication with importers, producers, etc., which can greatly improve the efficiency of product development. She said, "With the help of the CIIE as a bridge, we have also established connections with many excellent Australian companies. In the future, we not only want to introduce local national cuisine such as Australian beef and German milk powder to users, but also hope to enable Australian good products such as Ashton Valley sparkling juice that are not yet familiar to domestic consumers to be directly purchased
It is reported that under the matchmaking of previous CIIE events, Dingdong has successfully formed alliances with foreign companies such as Chilean cherry enterprise Garces Fruit (made in Jilin) and New Zealand Silver Fern Farm, and reached long-term stable cooperative relationships. At this year's CIIE, Dingdong Maicai's "Buyer Team" further communicated and explored future cooperation possibilities with the above-mentioned enterprises.
On November 6th, Xu Zhijian, Chief Commodity Officer of Dingdong Maicai, signed a letter of intent with Garces Fruit on behalf of the company, planning to purchase Chilean cherries, plums, peaches, and plums from Garces Fruit during the 2024-2025 season. This cooperation will be achieved through Dingdong Maicai's self built global direct procurement supply chain.
Dingdong Maicai's Chief Merchandise Officer (CMO), Xu Zhijian, stated that at the CIIE, Dingdong Maicai's product development team not only broadened their global perspective, but also discovered numerous excellent overseas products. It is reported that on the basis of signing contracts at the China International Import Expo, Dingdong Maicai plans to gradually introduce imported cherries from multiple production areas such as Chile, Australia, and New Zealand through direct procurement supply chains for the 2024-2025 season. The overall sales revenue is expected to increase by nearly 60% year-on-year.
