On the 4th, TSMC, the leader of wafer foundry, held a shareholders' meeting, and Wei Zhejia took over as chairman, announcing that TSMC has entered an era of full control by Wei Zhejia.
Faced with media questioning, if there is a conflict between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait, will customers demand to quickly move products to Arizona for production in the United States? Wei Zhejia said that there has indeed been such a discussion, but TSMC has 80% to 90% of its production capacity in Taiwan, so it is impossible to move all of it out.
Wei Zhejia stated that he does not want to see war. If there is a conflict between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait, it will not only affect TSMC or the semiconductor industry, but all industries will be affected.
As for whether geopolitics is his biggest challenge after taking over as chairman, Wei Zhejia did not respond positively, but expressed full confidence in TSMC's future development. Wei Zhejia stated that he is optimistic about the demand for chips in applications such as AI and high-speed computing, and his revenue will increase quarter by quarter. He expects the annual growth to fall between 20% and 25%, and hopes to raise prices.
