Traditional energy giants such as PetroChina and Sinopec have invested in building overcharge stations, and the Yiou Think Tank predicts that over 30% of gas stations will be converted to overcharge stations by 2030.

Analysts say that the rapid development of the overcharging industry chain is closely related to the importance attached by downstream car companies. In terms of secondary market performance, Yonggui Electric Appliances, which has a high-power liquid cooled DC charging gun, recorded two consecutive 20CM limit hikes on the first and second days after the National Day holiday, with its stock price increasing by over 90% in the first week after the holiday; Baoxin Technology, which has already invested in the construction of a liquid cooled super charging station, recorded three consecutive limit hikes in the three trading days after the National Day holiday.
On the 12th of that month, the official WeChat account of Ningde Times announced the donation of the first super charging station in Moto. In addition, there are also many new players joining the board, including traditional energy companies such as PetroChina and Sinopec. On October 9, according to the official account of PetroChina Tianjin Sales Company, the first "super charging+convenience store" comprehensive demonstration station of PetroChina was officially opened and put into operation on October 8. Yiou Think Tank predicts that by 2025, 5% of gas stations will become overcharged, with a conversion rate of over 30% by 2030 and a total of 35000 overcharged comprehensive stations.
At the policy level and local governments are also increasing the construction of overcharging. In June of this year, the General Office of the State Council issued guidance to further build a high-quality charging infrastructure system. Several cities such as Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and Chongqing have also proposed the goal of building a "city of overcharging" and a "city of overcharging". By 2025, Shenzhen will build 300 overcharging stations, making the ratio of "overcharging/refueling" the first in China to reach 1:1.
On October 1st, the Yiou Think Tank stated in its research report that 2023 will be the first year of the launch of the super charged new energy vehicle market, and the market will gradually enter a 5-7 year explosive period. The sales of overcharged vehicles will reach nearly 3 million in 2025 and exceed 12 million in 2030. At the same time, the market share of overcharged vehicles will steadily increase from 3% in 2023 to 52.5% in 2030.
Upstream industries such as power modules, drive systems, and power batteries provide complete high-voltage platform technology systems for host manufacturers, while overcharging and related service enterprises bridge end users to meet various usage scenarios. Compared to the awkward situation where charging stations are difficult to find at special nodes such as the National Day Golden Week and the Spring Festival, the advantage of exchanging electricity is obvious, as it can provide an excellent experience of replenishing energy in just a few minutes.
The charging mode is accelerating towards overcharging, and the charging time is generally compressed to less than ten minutes, greatly eliminating the advantage of battery swapping. However, in the current situation, battery swapping can be a very powerful supplement to charging, especially when the number of charging stations has not yet fully met market demand. At present, companies such as NIO, SAIC Feifan, and GAC Aian are accelerating their layout. Among them, NIO's national layout of replacement power stations has exceeded 1500, and it is expected to exceed 2300 by the end of the year.
At the same time, in terms of battery life, if super fast charging is used for a long time and excessive current is used for charging, the lithium ion will not have enough time to complete the negative electrode insertion, and the high-speed movement of the lithium ion will cause the battery to overheat. If the guarantee is not in place, the car may change from fast charging to slow charging.
In addition, compared to the application in the field of passenger cars, there is more room for battery swapping in the field of commercial vehicles. Even if the charging speed can be increased to more than ten minutes in the future, for operational vehicles such as buses, trucks, port trucks, and other vehicles with long operating distances and high load capacity, fully charging still takes a lot of time. It only takes three to five minutes to replace the battery, and the extreme efficiency in this specific scenario cannot be replaced by charging.
Analysts say that the advantages of future charging modes in the field of passenger cars are unquestionable, but the application of battery swapping in the field of commercial vehicles is still worth looking forward to.
