On June 5th local time, all three major US stock indexes closed higher. As of the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.25%, the S&P 500 Index rose 1.18%, and the Nasdaq rose 1.96%. Both the S&P 500 Index and the Nasdaq hit historic highs.
In terms of individual stocks, Nvidia rose 5.16%, with its stock price breaking through $1200 for the first time in history, and its market value reaching $3012 billion, surpassing Apple's $3003.5 billion, becoming the second largest company in the US stock market value, second only to Microsoft ($3.15 trillion).
Since the release of the first quarter financial report in May, which exceeded expectations, Nvidia's stock price has risen by over 24%. According to the financial report, Nvidia's revenue for the first quarter of this year was $26 billion, with an adjusted earnings per share of $6.12, an increase of 262% and 461% respectively compared to the same period last year.
