AI (Artificial Intelligence Chip) leader Nvidia's stock price has surged again, surpassing Apple's market value.
On June 5th local time, NVDA (Nasdaq: NVDA) rose 5.16%, hitting a new historical high for three consecutive trading days, with a total market value of $3.01 trillion, surpassing Apple and becoming a giant second only to Microsoft ($3.15 trillion). The market value increased from $2 trillion to $3 trillion, and Nvidia only took about three months.
Nvidia has also become the third company in history to break through the $3 trillion market value threshold, all thanks to the boom in artificial intelligence. Nvidia's GPUs (graphics processing chips) are the core of the development of artificial intelligence.
Since the company released its latest comprehensive and unexpected financial report on May 23 local time, Nvidia's stock price has continued to rise. Nvidia's first quarter financial report showed that the company achieved a revenue of $26.044 billion during the period, a year-on-year increase of 262%, far exceeding market expectations of $24.7 billion. At the same time, the company predicts that sales in the second quarter of the fiscal year 2025 will reach $28 billion, higher than market expectations of $26.6 billion. At the same time, Nvidia announced that it will receive quarterly dividends, with a dividend per share increase from $4 in the previous quarter to 10 cents, and will implement a 1 split 10 split plan.
On the second day after the financial report was released, the rise in Nvidia's stock price on the same day increased the company's market value by approximately $218 billion (approximately RMB 1.58 trillion), setting the second largest daily market value increase in Wall Street history. The largest daily market value increase in Wall Street's history was also achieved by Nvidia this year.
Regarding the future performance of the company, NVIDIA CEO Huang Renxun has also stated that the company is at the starting point of the next wave of growth. He pointed out that the new chip Blackwell will be shipped in the second quarter of this year, increased production in the third quarter, and launched in the data center in the fourth quarter, bringing a large amount of revenue to the company. Huang Renxun also mentioned that in addition to large manufacturers, the demand for chips from startups is also very strong: "Currently, there are approximately 15000 to 20000 generative AI startups in various fields waiting to become customers of Nvidia, using Nvidia's devices to train models."
At the previous phone performance meeting, Huang Renxun stated that Blackwell chips are already being "produced at full capacity" and are expected to bring a significant amount of revenue to the company within the year. Huang Renxun has repeatedly emphasized that "we are accelerating" and stated that "one update per year" will be implemented on AI chips.
Earlier this year, Tesla CEO Musk revealed that training the Grok 2 model would require approximately 20000 Nvidia H100 GPUs, while versions above Grok 3 would require 100000 H100 units. According to Statista's statistics, in 2023, xAI did not appear on the list of Nvidia H00 chip's top twelve customers. Meta and Microsoft tied for first place on the list with a purchase volume of 150000 chips, respectively. Analysis indicates that the news from xAI has convinced investors that Nvidia chips still have some potential big customers and will continue to increase demand for Nvidia chips.
